Singapore Takes Pole Position in Arton Capital’s Passport Index

While near the top of the ranking for many years, Singapore until recently had to settle for a silver medal in the competition to have the world’s best passport, as measured by Arton Capital’s popular Passport Index. This year, though, Paraguay removed visa-requirements for Singaporean visitors, thrusting its passport into the lead with a visa-free score of 159.

“For the first time ever, an Asian country has the most powerful passport in the world. It is a testament to Singapore’s inclusive diplomatic relations and effective foreign policy,” commented Managing Director of Arton Capital’s Singapore office, Philippe May.

The Passport Index, which won our tongue-in-cheek Investment Migration Index Award earlier this year, is one of several competing indices that measure the value of citizenships and nationalities.
