IMI is Hiring: Full-Time Events Manager

A fully remote, full-time role that involves regular international travel and plenty of room for career growth.

IMI is looking for an Events Manager to plan and develop our international events.

This is a full-time, exclusive contractor role. The successful candidate will work only for IMI. Compensation combines a fixed monthly fee and performance-based bonuses, and the role includes regular international travel to events.

What the role covers

End-to-end event management. Own the timeline, track what needs to happen, chase every contributor, and prevent items from falling through the cracks.

Coordination with local event companies. IMI works with different local partners in each destination. The Events Manager is the single point of contact with those partners and confirms that they deliver what the event needs.

Physical event details. Badges, signage, printed materials, gifts, branded goods, sponsor materials, shipping, and all last-minute purchases must be ready before the doors open.

Event marketing. Plan and execute social media posts, email campaigns, speaker and sponsor announcements, and all other promotional work around each event.

Internal coordination. Work with sales, editorial, design, management, and other IMI contributors, and confirm that every deliverable arrives on time.

On-site delivery. Travel to each event and take responsibility for smooth execution on the ground.

Process improvement. Build the systems, checklists, templates, automations, and workflows that make each event easier to organize than the last.

Expansion of the events program. IMI plans to add events and test new formats. The Events Manager helps design, launch, and refine them.

Who we are looking for

The role does not require a senior events professional. Some experience organizing professional, B2B, media, or hospitality events is useful. Ability and mindset weigh more than years on a CV.

We would happily hire someone earlier in their career, provided they are smart, ambitious, organized, digitally fluent, and able to learn fast.

Personality decides most of this hire. The description we are looking for is this:

Exceptionally organized. This is the top priority in the search. The role demands tracking a large number of small tasks, deadlines, people, and dependencies at once.

High agency. The person identifies what needs to happen and makes it happen, without repeatedly asking for the next instruction.

Fast learner. IMI is a small but complex organization, and the Events Manager should absorb how it works on a compressed schedule.

Digitally fluent. Canva, Mailchimp, Airtable, Stripe, Slack, and Zapier are among the tools we use for social scheduling, ticketing, and project management. Ideally, you either already have some familiarity with most of these, or you’re open to learning how to use them.

AI-native, or open to becoming AI-proficient. IMI uses LLMs extensively and plans to expand that use. The Events Manager should want to apply AI to repetitive work, process improvement, marketing production, and event organization.

Open-minded. IMI events are designed to be different from standard industry conferences. Assumptions about how things are normally done are not useful in this role.

Good taste. IMI events should look and feel like a premium experience. The Events Manager cares about presentation, branding, venue atmosphere, signage, printed materials, photography, and the whole attendee experience.

Competent as a marketer. The Events Manager should be able to plan and execute a marketing campaign around an event. Professional copywriting experience is a bonus.

Commercially minded. Sponsorship sales belong to a different team. The Events Manager should understand that events must produce revenue and that sponsors and attendees must receive value for what they pay.

Socially capable. IMI events bring together business owners, investors, lawyers, and senior professionals from around the world. The Events Manager must be comfortable in that room.

Comfortable with frequent international travel. Travel is a core component of the role.

Fluent in professional English. IMI conducts most work in English.

Working arrangement

The engagement is a full-time independent contractor arrangement. The Events Manager works exclusively for IMI and treats the role as a full-time professional commitment.

The role is remote by default and includes frequent international travel to events.

Compensation includes a fixed monthly contractor fee, performance-based bonuses, and IMI-paid travel expenses for events.

The scope of the role will grow as IMI expands its events program, and the Events Manager will help lead that expansion.
