10 On The Weekend is a weekly (-ish) feature in IMI, the concept of which is simple: Each time, we ask the same ten questions of a different IMI Pro, letting readers get to know the interviewee on a more personal and informal level than they might during the ordinary course of business.
Our guest this week is Fatma Çakır Managing Director of Beyond Global Partners Turkey
How do you spend your weekends?
As long as my “real boss” – my phone – allows it, I make the most of every moment. I am always just a call away for our clients and colleagues, as staying connected and supportive is simply part of who I am and my daily rhythm.
Still, this magical city, Istanbul, gives me endless ways to enjoy my weekends; breakfast by the Bosphorus, sunset walks by the sea, ferry rides, stand-up shows, hiking, biking, theatres, or just catching a fun concert.
What are your top three business goals this year?
- To be fully adaptable in our ever-changing immigration industry.
- To make sure we cover every business opportunity from Vancouver to Tokyo.
- To expand our program offerings and welcome more talented, kind-hearted, and positive people into our BEYOND family, and grow globally with new offices.
And personally? I have started learning Russian. Fingers crossed, I will be fluent in ten years!
What’s your biggest business concern right now?
Sudden changes and shifting attitudes toward investment migration programs across Europe and Caribbean citizenship programs can be challenging.
These shifts often leave clients confused, and while we always guide them as clearly and honestly as possible, the unpredictability can be tough.
Still, I truly believe there is always a way forward. Our industry is constantly evolving, and that is exactly what keeps me motivated, passionate, and full of energy. There is never a dull week!
Which book is on your nightstand right now?
Right now, I am switching between The Power of Habit (Charles Duhigg), Atomic Habits (James Clear), and Jerry Seinfeld’s Is This Anything? (yes, I am a big comedy fan!).
We also have a small book club with some colleagues. It is such a lovely way to connect beyond the office and share personal thoughts, laughter, and stories.
How and when did you first get into the investment migration industry?
I joined this amazing world about four years ago, thanks to our wonderful Managing Partner, Serhan Aysever.
Back then, I was helping international businesspeople visiting Turkey during my Master Studies. One of them happened to be a BEYOND client, and that beautiful coincidence led me here. I have not looked back since.
What was your proudest moment as a service provider?
It is hard to choose just one. But the moments that truly warm my heart are when clients say, “thank you for being there.”
I always try to build real, sincere relationships with everyone we work with. Knowing they feel supported, not just professionally, but as people, means the world to me.
Which investment migration market development has surprised you the most in the last year?
Spain’s Golden Visa closure was definitely surprising. And let’s just say, the Trump Card citizenship promo? That caught everyone by surprise too!
If you could go ten years back in time, what business decision would you change?
Honestly? None. Every decision, every step, even the missteps, shaped me into who I am today. I believe everything teaches us something valuable. That’s how I grow.
What investment migration industry personality do you most admire?
Without question, our Founder and CEO, Hakan Cortelek. He is a true visionary, full of wisdom, energy, and positivity. What sets him apart is his heart. He leads with compassion, grace, and sincerity.
He has taught me so much, supported me through every challeng,e and inspired me in countless ways. Hakan is a rare kind of leader and a truly wonderful human being. I am deeply grateful to him.
If all goes according to plan, what will you be doing five years from now?
Hopefully, managing several BEYOND offices around the world, meeting incredible people, speaking more languages, and continuing to do what I love, helping others build new lives and futures, just like we do every day now.
