Citizenship Timeline and Requirements

Foreign nationals holding a Denmark Start-up Visa can pursue a path to citizenship through a two-stage process. After maintaining 5 years of continuous legal residence in Denmark, visa holders become eligible to apply for permanent residence status.

Upon completing 2 years as a permanent resident, and provided all eligibility requirements continue to be met, individuals may apply for Danish citizenship through naturalization. Thus, the minimum timeline from initial visa to citizenship is 7 years
