Get With the Times or Face Extinction, Says Head of Chinese Migration Firm

Jacky Yan, President of Can-Achieve, one of China’s largest investment migration agencies, tells Investment Migration Insider that the Chinese immigration client today is completely different from a decade ago and that firms that are slow to diversify and innovate will not survive.

“Clients today are 10-15 years younger, on average, than they were a decade ago,” Jacky Yan told Investment Migration Insider during an interview at the Internation Migration Summit in Guangzhou. “They’re also much better educated and can do more things by themselves.”

Mr. Yan explained that, in order to stay relevant, investment migration firms in China are taking to offering a greater variety of services in addition to their core business of immigration, such as business services, school placements, and housing assistance.

“That’s the only way to avoid extinction,” said Yan, and added that the industry’s greatest challenge at the moment is keeping up with changing customer demands.

He’s also troubled by frequent changes in program policies around the world and lamented what he calls a “homogenization” of residence and citizenship by investment programs.
