10 On The Weekend is a weekly (-ish) feature in IMI, the concept of which is simple: Each time, we ask the same ten questions of a different IMI Pro, letting readers get to know the interviewee on a more personal and informal level than they might during the ordinary course of business.
Our guest this week is Evelyn Xinxin Xu Regional Director at Arton Capital
How do you spend your weekends?
In China, my primary role revolves around offering comprehensive service support to our partners, and that pours into the weekend.
Hence, my weekends are a seamless blend of work responsibilities and family time – a routine I’ve upheld for over a decade.
Professionally, I ensure I’m readily available to address queries and provide timely assistance to our partners, recognizing the importance of promptness and precision in building trust and fostering collaboration.
On the personal front, weekends are also about creating cherished memories with my family. I devote quality time to my two daughters, accompanying them to their extracurricular activities like dance and tennis, nurturing their passions, and supporting their growth.
I also enjoy small, joyful tasks like shopping for supplies for our beloved family cat, which adds a touch of warmth and relaxation to my weekends.
Balancing work and family is challenging, especially in a fast-paced market like China, where expectations for service efficiency and professionalism are exceptionally high.
This balance, however, has allowed me to remain responsive, maintain a strong work ethic, and earn the trust and recognition of our partners, which in turn deepens our collaboration and mutual success.
What are your top three business goals this year?
Enhancing Influence
While we’ve already established a strong presence in China, with numerous partnerships and significant contributions to expatriates living and working here, our vision this year is to extend Arton’s influence further across the Asian region.
We aim to attract a wider audience and build stronger ties in emerging markets.
Promoting and Sharing Expertise
Leveraging the power of digital media, we’re committed to disseminating accurate, professional information about our services and projects.
Our goal is to present content that informs and inspires confidence, helping more people discover the value and reliability of our offerings.
Advocating the Global Citizenship Mindset
We’re deeply passionate about promoting the principles of freedom, global settlement, and mobility.
Through targeted outreach and client education, we aim to illustrate the significance of global citizenship and its transformative impact on personal and professional growth.
By doing so, we empower clients to embrace broader opportunities and enrich their life paths.
What’s your biggest business concern right now?
Over the past decade, I have approached consulting not merely as a profession but as a meaningful, long-term commitment.
In today’s rapidly changing geopolitical environment and as immigration policies evolve at an unprecedented pace, my primary concern is staying true to the core values of this industry.
Maintaining professional excellence while continuously enhancing our reputation is more than a business goal—it’s a responsibility.
It involves staying ahead of industry trends, providing reliable guidance, and ensuring our clients receive tailored solutions that align with their needs and aspirations.
By focusing on these pillars, we can solidify trust and showcase ourselves as leaders in a dynamic and competitive market.
Which book is on your nightstand right now?
The Golden Passport by Kristin Surak is currently on my nightstand and has become a constant source of insight and inspiration.
It explores the intricacies of the investment migration industry, providing a profound understanding of the interplay between global citizenship and mobility.
As someone deeply invested in this field, I find the book both enriching and thought-provoking, and it continues to shape my perspective on the industry.
How and when did you first get into the investment migration industry?
I began my journey in this industry in 2008, drawn by its potential to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
Over the years, I have remained steadfast in my commitment to this field, witnessing its evolution while continually refining my expertise.
This long-standing dedication has allowed me to build deep relationships with clients and partners, as well as to contribute to the industry’s growth and innovation.
What was your proudest moment as a service provider?
One of my proudest achievements has been earning the trust and recognition of our partners.
We often face complex and challenging cases that require careful analysis, creative problem-solving, and seamless teamwork. In such situations, I collaborate closely with my team, pooling our expertise to deliver efficient and impactful solutions.
These moments of collaboration and mutual trust are deeply gratifying, as they underscore the value of our work and the strength of our partnerships.
Equally rewarding is the trust placed in me by my clients. For instance, clients from a decade ago occasionally reach out to share how the guidance I provided at the time transformed their family and personal planning.
Hearing their heartfelt gratitude and witnessing the positive impact of our work is incredibly fulfilling, reaffirming my commitment to delivering meaningful, high-quality services.
Which investment migration market development has surprised you the most in the last year?
The rapid and frequent changes in immigration policies have left a lasting impression on me.
Over the past decade, I’ve experienced significant policy shifts in programs such as those of Canada’s Quebec Investor Program, Hong Kong’s Investment Visa, the UK’s Tier 1 Investor Visa, and Australia’s BIIP.
These changes were more gradual then, providing applicants with sufficient time to adapt and respond.
In recent years, however, the pace of change has accelerated dramatically, influenced by shifting geopolitical landscapes and evolving global economic conditions.
Governments now revise policies almost monthly, creating a highly dynamic environment that demands adaptability and foresight.
This trend highlights the importance of staying agile and informed to navigate an ever-changing landscape effectively.
If you could go ten years back in time, what business decision would you change?
If I could turn back time, I would have embraced the international market earlier and proactively immersed myself in global networks.
Engaging with international markets sooner would have allowed me to accumulate valuable experience, build a more diverse and extensive professional network, and strengthen my ability to navigate complex global dynamics.
This earlier exposure would have undoubtedly accelerated my growth and broadened the horizons of my professional journey.
What investment migration industry personality do you most admire?
Armand Arton is a figure I deeply admire. As a trailblazer in the industry, his profound expertise, innovative vision, and significant contributions have earned him widespread respect.
His ability to drive meaningful change while fostering trust and collaboration within the industry is truly inspiring.
If all goes according to plan, what will you be doing five years from now?
In five years, I envision myself making an even greater impact in the investment migration industry.
I aim to expand my professional network, deepen strategic partnerships, and further establish Arton as a pioneering leader in the field.
On a personal level, I plan to continue refining my expertise and offering tailored guidance to clients, empowering them to achieve their global mobility goals.
Ultimately, I aspire to play a key role in shaping the industry’s future while contributing to the realization of clients’ dreams and aspirations on a global scale.
