Nexor Family Office plans a family’s second residence or citizenship in concert with its tax and estate planning. The Nassau-based multi-family office, a firm that administers the wealth of several families at once, assigns each ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) household a single partner who answers for it personally.
Originally the Bahamian subsidiary of Geneva’s Banque Syz, the firm came under its founding partners’ control through a management buyout. It now operates from Nassau, Panama City, and Dubai, with a strategic partner representing it in Cape Town.
Here is what you should know about IMI’s newest Official Partner:
About Nexor Family Office
Nexor Family Office is an independent international multi-family office. It looks after ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families whose wealth, businesses, and lives span several countries. It is headquartered in Nassau, and Nexor (Bahamas) Ltd. is regulated and authorized by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas to manage and advise on securities.
The firm began in Swiss private banking. Its roots go back to 1999, when Banque Syz, a Geneva-based private banking group, set up in Nassau.
In 2021, the founding partners led a management buyout that turned that office into an independent multi-family office. More than 25 years on, Nexor Family Office still works by what it calls the “three Ps”:
- Personal: Every family has a dedicated partner, and relationships often last for generations.
- Precise: Swiss-style rigor applies to everything from building portfolios to handling administrative detail.
- Private: Discretion is an inherited tradition rather than a policy.
The founding partners are CEO Daniel-Marc Brunner and Werner Gruner, joined by Executive Chairman Patrick Feuz. Between them, they have decades of experience in senior roles at UBS, Credit Suisse, Julius Baer, Syz, Andbank, and Gonet, in Switzerland, the US, Latin America, The Bahamas, and the Cayman Islands. Mr. Brunner and Mr. Feuz both led Swiss-owned banks in The Bahamas before Nexor.
The team is multilingual and multicultural. It is Swiss, Italian, Latin American, Portuguese, and South African in origin, and together it works in seven languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Afrikaans.
What Nexor Family Office does
Nexor Family Office is a fully integrated international wealth management firm and a one-stop shop for UHNW families. It brings five disciplines together under one roof:
- International wealth management: Discretionary and advisory mandates, private banking accounts with leading custodians, traditional and structured products, digital assets (trading and custody), commodities, and fund management.
- Wealth and tax planning: Estate planning and wealth structuring; trusts, foundations, and Specific Mandate Alternative Regulatory Test (SMART) funds; insurance planning; fund structures; and international tax planning and cross-border compliance.
- Investment migration: Citizenship and residence by investment. Nexor Family Office helps choose the right program, checks eligibility, and manages documents and applications from the first conversation to approval. In Nexor’s words, it is “a second home for every eventuality.”
- Family office services: Consolidated reporting and administration, family governance, succession planning and philanthropy, and personal and digital security assessments.
- Lifestyle and concierge: Household and property management, travel and charters, relocation and schooling, and, through partners, property management in select jurisdictions.
What sets Nexor Family Office apart is that these services are combined. A family’s investment migration plan is designed alongside its tax planning, its structures, and its investment portfolio, rather than in isolation. And each family deals directly with one partner who is personally responsible for it, with no committee in between.
Who Nexor Family Office works with
Nexor Family Office works with internationally mobile UHNW individuals and families, mainly from Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Many are entrepreneurs and multi-generational families with assets in several jurisdictions.
It serves them from four locations:
- Nassau: Nexor (Bahamas) Ltd., the head office.
- Panama City: Nexor (Panama) S.A., covering Latin America.
- Dubai: Nexor Family Office (Middle East), licensed in the Meydan Free Zone and covering the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.
- Cape Town: Represented by its strategic partner Capitor (South Africa), covering Southern Africa.
Nexor Family Office also works with custody and banking partners in Switzerland, The Bahamas, Panama, and the UAE; with US custodians and registered investment advisers; and with a network of specialist lawyers, tax advisers, and service providers across jurisdictions.
Why Nexor Family Office joined IMI
For Nexor Family Office, investment migration is part of planning a family’s wealth properly, not a separate product. Second residence and citizenship give clients mobility, security, and a contingency plan. But the best results come when the decision is made together with tax, estate, and investment planning.
Nexor Family Office joined IMI to meet the program operators, government units, developers, and advisers who make up the investment migration industry. It wants to share its view of migration as one part of an integrated plan, and to build trusted partnerships that serve its clients across the Americas, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
