Three business days. That’s how quickly the fastest applicant received permanent residency through the Philippines FIV investor visa, a residency by investment program shattering conventional processing timelines in the Asia-Pacific region.

The program, administered by the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), processed 20 residency permits in its first full year with an average in-country turnaround time of just four business days. No one waited longer than five days from arrival to card in hand.

A Truly Global Draw

Since launching in 2024, the FIV has attracted inquiries from 529 prospective applicants across five continents and 102 nations.

India leads the pack at 24.9%, followed by the United States (18.3%), Germany (11.8%), the United Kingdom (10.9%), and Canada (10.9%). Pakistan, Australia, Taiwan, Bangladesh, and China round out the top ten.

Who’s applying? Entrepreneurs dominate at 27.7%, followed by high-level executives (20.3%), IT professionals (13.8%), engineers (11.1%), and finance professionals (9.2%).

The program also attracts retirees, medical professionals, and other skilled individuals looking to plant roots in the Philippines.

Family applicants represent the majority. Single applicants make up 44.4% of the total, but 22.2% are families of three, another 22.2% families of four, and 11.1% couples.

More than half are relocating with family members, a strong vote of confidence in the program as a complete family solution for international investors seeking strategic residency in Asia.

Investment Options That Actually Make Sense

The FIV traditionally requires a $75,000 fixed deposit through approved partners. But the program has expanded recently to include what they call “high-utility investment tracks,” basically investments you can actually use.

One option? A premium adventure club membership with shooting sports, ATV and boating access, club hotel accommodations, and golf course privileges. Another lets you invest in a business and co-working center, combining residency with immediate access to professional infrastructure.

The program accepts cryptocurrency for these options. Ramon Garcia Jr., Diversified Special Economic Zone Chairman and the architect behind the FIV, calls it “a streamlined and transparent pathway to Philippine residency.”

David, a UK executive who recently got his FIV residency, appreciated seeing where his money was going. “You’re actually investing in a company within the Free Zone that’s doing a lot of work to develop the area,” he recalls, remembering the visible factory construction during his visit. “From a country and market that’s really growing, it’s a very good investment.”

His motivation went deeper than returns. “The UK could’ve probably been seen as safe and stable 10, 20 years ago,” David explains. “For me now, I think that it’s more viable to have a second residency in other parts of the world, and particularly Asia.”

No Nationality Restrictions

The program accepts all nationalities, a policy that fills a real gap in the market. A recent Pakistani FIV holder described his relief after struggling with other programs: “I’d been looking at other investment programs and golden visas, and for Pakistanis it can be a bit difficult. Some simply don’t accept Pakistani citizens. But with the Philippines FIV program, it was open to all.”

What Makes This Different from Other Philippine Residency Options

The Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) has long been a primary residency pathway for foreign nationals in the Philippines. It comes with age-based eligibility requirements and forces applicants to spend two to three months in-country during application processing.

The FIV takes a different approach. No minimum stay requirements. No real estate purchase obligations. No intrusive net worth checks. You can live anywhere in the Philippines and include family members without additional investment.

Tax benefits matter here. The program doesn’t impose tax or reporting requirements on foreign-sourced income. The Philippines also maintains banking secrecy protections under Republic Act No. 1405.

Your deposits are legally confidential and aren’t subject to automatic information exchange under the Common Reporting Standard (CRS). That’s rare financial privacy paired with a modern banking system that handles USD accounts and international transfers smoothly.

How the Application Actually Works

The FIV uses a concierge model that walks investors through every step. Schedule a consultation, sign the engagement agreement, then prepare your documents for pre-approval, which typically comes through within seven business days.

Once you’re pre-approved, complete your chosen investment and head to the Philippines for a five-day organized onboarding trip to handle final procedures. Your ACR-I resident card gets issued within three to five business days in-country. The fastest? Three days.

Why the Philippines Right Now

English is everywhere. Cultural ties to international markets run deep. The economy keeps growing. Infrastructure in Manila’s BGC, Nuvali, and Cebu now rivals Singapore. Over the past 20 years, the country has transformed itself into a legitimate Southeast Asian business hub.

Garcia describes the program as “an investment visa with a heart,” noting that participants are “not just getting a residency permit but becoming part of an ecosystem designed for international investors to thrive.”

Digital Upgrades Continue

FAB keeps rolling out digital improvements, including a virtual check-in option for annual reporting, as well as investing in qualified digital assets. These updates show the organization’s commitment to using technology to serve global investors while cementing its position as the Philippines’ premier gateway for international talent.
