Program Overview

Oman Investor Residency

The Oman Investor Residency Program provides foreign investors with a pathway to obtain a long-term residency permit, valid for 10 years, through qualifying investments of at least RO200,000 (~US$520,000).

Investors can qualify through seven routes, including real estate, listed equities, bank deposits, and government bonds, and may renew their permits upon expiry.

The permit covers family members and allows self-sponsorship with multiple entry/exit privileges.

How to Qualify

The Oman Investor Residency Program now has a single 10-year renewable investor residence permit. Applicants must make a qualifying investment of at least OMR 200,000 via one of the following routes:

Establish and operate a company

  • Own a stake in a company that has been active for at least one year, where your share of total assets is valued at OMR 200,000 or more.

Real estate in Integrated Tourism Complexes (ITCs)

  • Purchase residential, commercial, or tourism units within ITCs with a valid title deed. If held through a company, provide a certified final balance sheet.

Government development bonds

  • Hold OMR 200,000 or more in government development bonds with a minimum remaining maturity of two years.

Listed equities

  • Invest in shares listed on the local exchange with a current market value of at least OMR 200,000.

Fixed bank deposit

  • Place a time deposit of OMR 200,000 or more with an Omani bank for a minimum term of five years.

Employer of Omani nationals

  • Own a company that employs 50 or more Omani citizens and maintains paid-in capital above OMR 200,000.

Foreign investment company registration

  • Register a company under Oman’s foreign investment regime. This route allows the nomination of partners or senior executives as residency beneficiaries.

All permits are renewable upon expiration, provided the qualifying investment is maintained and conditions continue to be met.

Citizenship Timeline and Requirements

The Oman Investor Residency Program does not provide a pathway to Omani citizenship. Oman, like most Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, maintains highly restrictive naturalization policies and generally does not grant citizenship to foreign investors or residents.

The investor residency permit, which is valid for 10 years, remains strictly a residence permit that must be renewed upon expiration, provided the qualifying investment is maintained.
