How to Qualify

To qualify for the Mauritius “Non-Citizen 50” Retirement Visa, applicants must

  • Be over 50 years old
  • Transfer a minimum of US$1,500 to a local bank account each month

Applicants may include dependents – a spouse, unmarried children, and parents – as long as these do not take up gainful employment in Mauritius.

Additional income is necessary to include dependents.

The initial visa is valid for 10 years. Upon expiry, the applicant may renew the visa, as long as he has remitted at least $1,500 a month or at least $18,000 per year during the initial 10 years of residency.

Alternatively, the applicant can apply for permanent residency (which has a 20-year validity and is renewable), as long as he can prove he has remitted a total of at least US$54,000 for the three years immediately preceding the application for PR.
