European Parliament Publishes Report on RCBI-Programs

The European Parliamentary Research Service has published a report on residence and citizenship by investment programs in the EU, suggesting how the EU should “deal with” such schemes.

The report comes as a result of requests from the European Parliament’s
Special Committee on Financial Crimes, Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance
(TAX3) for a study on CBI and RBI schemes the EU.

The study “examines the risks these schemes carry regarding corruption, money laundering and tax evasion. The study also looks at the economic, social and political impacts of such schemes and explores the potential for EU action in this field”.

The report, which is 72 pages long, concludes with recommendations on EU action on the programs.
