“Quiet Competence Over Noise”: 10 On The Weekend with Minh Ho

"Trust, perspective, and client relationships compound over time, and I would have begun that journey earlier."

10 On The Weekend is a weekly (-ish) feature in IMI, the concept of which is simple: Each time, we ask the same ten questions of a different IMI Pro, letting readers get to know the interviewee on a more personal and informal level than they might during the ordinary course of business.

Our guest this week is Minh Ho, Founder at HorizonCross Advisory

How do you spend your weekends?

Weekends are when I slow down and recharge. I spend time with family, read, and very often you’ll find me at a keyboard or piano.

I’ve been playing for more than 30 years, and music has always been a peaceful way for me to reset, reflect, and come back to work with clarity.

What are your top three business goals this year?

First, to strengthen HorizonCross Advisory as a trusted advisory partner for globally mobile families and investors.

Second, to deepen collaboration with best-in-class international partners so our clients receive thoughtful strategies rather than transactional fixes.

Third, to create more education-driven content so clients feel informed, confident, and truly in control of their decisions.

What’s your biggest business concern right now?

The pace of change. Geopolitics, taxation, compliance, and migration policies are shifting faster than ever. My concern is helping clients avoid short-term, reactive decisions and instead plan with clarity, discipline, and a long-term perspective.

Which book is on your nightstand right now?

I enjoy books that offer a perspective on life, leadership, and human nature. The Godfather and The Art of War are long-time favourites, not because of power or strategy, but for the way they explore responsibility, discipline, and calm thinking.

I also really enjoy political and social memoirs; they help me see the world with a bit more context and humility.

How and when did you first get into the investment migration industry?

I came into investment migration and global mobility after many years working in banking across London, Vienna, Singapore, Laos, and Vietnam. Later, building and running businesses in Australia gave me a very real appreciation of what complex, high-stakes decisions feel like for families and entrepreneurs.

Those experiences shaped how I advise today, calm, practical, and always with a long-term view.

What was your proudest moment as a service provider?

It’s never about one single achievement. What makes me proud is when a client says, “I feel calmer and clearer after talking to you.”

Helping families feel supported, confident, and secure in major life decisions is what matters most to me.

Which investment migration market development has surprised you the most in the last year?

The speed and assertiveness with which governments have recalibrated residency, citizenship, and tax frameworks.

It reinforces that investment migration today isn’t just about access; it’s about resilience, optionality, and thinking ahead.

If you could go ten years back in time, what business decision would you change?

If I could go back, I would have embraced the advisory path earlier. My years in banking and entrepreneurship across different countries were incredibly valuable, but I wish I had started building my own advisory voice and thought leadership sooner.

Trust, perspective, and client relationships compound over time, and I would have begun that journey earlier.

What investment migration industry personality do you most admire?

I admire people in the industry who remain principled in a highly commercial environment, those who prioritise integrity, compliance, and client well-being over hype.

Quiet competence and long-term thinking impress me far more than noise.

If all goes according to plan, what will you be doing five years from now?

Ideally, exactly what I’m doing now, but at a deeper, more refined level.

I’d like HorizonCross Advisory to be recognised not just as a solution provider, but as a trusted thinking partner for globally mobile families: A firm they turn to for clarity, grounded advice, and stability in an uncertain world.
