Sabah to Autonomously Manage State MM2H and License Local Agents
Decentralization of MM2H management allows Sabah to directly regulate agents and enforce program rules at state level.
The Sabah Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Investor Visa Program offers a long-term residency option specifically in the Malaysian state of Sabah, located on the northern part of Borneo.
As a semi-autonomous state within Malaysia, Sabah has rights over immigration and land matters, allowing it to operate programs like the Sabah MM2H independently from the federal government. With minimum financial requirements starting from MYR500,000 (~US$112,000) under the Silver category, the program is designed to attract individuals seeking long-term residency with investment opportunities in Sabah.
Applicants, who must be 30 or older, can choose between three categories – Silver, Gold, and Platinum – each with different financial and residency criteria:

The Sabah MM2H program is designed for long-term residency but does not serve as a direct pathway to Malaysian citizenship. Those interested in becoming Malaysian citizens must meet the federal requirements, which typically include at least 12 consecutive years of residency within Malaysia, along with other conditions such as demonstrating financial stability and good character.
Moreover, Malaysia does not allow dual citizenship. As such, applicants pursuing Malaysian citizenship would need to relinquish their current nationality to comply with the country’s laws.
