How to Qualify

To qualify for QIIP, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Investment agreement: Enter into an investment agreement with an approved financial intermediary.
  • Management experience: Have at least two years of management experience within the five years preceding application submission.
  • Net worth: Possess a net worth of at least C$2 million (US$1.45 million), which may be shared with a spouse or common-law partner included in the application.
  • Education: Hold a diploma equivalent to at least a Quebec secondary school diploma.
  • French language proficiency: Demonstrate French language skills at a minimum of level 7 on the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français.
  • Investment and financial contribution: Make a five-year term investment of C$1 million (US$726,000)  and a financial contribution of C$200,000 (US$145,000).
  • Attestation of learning: Obtain an attestation of learning about democratic values and Quebec values within 60 days of file opening.
  • Stay in Quebec: Complete a stay in Quebec of at least 12 months within two years of obtaining a work permit.

Citizenship Timeline and Requirements

In addition to the program’s requirements, QIIP investors must the following requirements to qualify for Canadian citizenship:

  • Must hold PR status and not be under review or have removal orders.
  • Must have lived in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years (1,095 days).
  • Required to file taxes in Canada for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
  • Those aged 18 to 54 must take a test on Canadian rights, responsibilities, and history.
  • Successful applicants must take the oath to become citizens.
