Program Overview

Indonesia Retirement Visa (KITAS)

Indonesia’s Retirement Visa grants rights of settlement in Indonesia to those who can demonstrate they are able to financially support themselves without working in the country.

After five years of residence in the country, the applicant is eligible for permanent residency. Those who physically spend the majority of the year inside Indonesia are also eligible for citizenship, provided they remain financially independent and have learned Bahasa Indonesia.

Indonesia, however, does not permit dual citizenship.

To qualify for Indonesia’s Retirement Visa (KITAS), foreign nationals must demonstrate that they are capable of sustaining themselves throughout their stay in Indonesia without work. Suitable proof of the same can be a bank or a pension fund statement that shows financial security of at least $1,500 monthly or $18,000 annually.

Applicants must also provide proof of accommodation in Indonesia, in the form of either a long-term rental agreement or a title deed to a residential property. If the property is purchased, it must have a minimum sales value of $35,000. If rented, the monthly rent amount must be at least $500 per month in the capital region of Jakarta, or the regions of Bandung and Bali, $300 on the islands of Java, Batam, and Medan, or $200 in other areas.
