Colombia offers those who invest in real estate or businesses three-year M-visas, which are renewable and can be converted to R-visas (essentially PR) after five years.
The M-10 and M-6 visas offer temporary residence for investments of, respectively, US$110,000 in real estate or US$40,000 in a business.
Both categories offer a path to citizenship in 10 years, but those hoping to qualify must speak Spanish and may not be absent from Colombia for more than 365 days consecutively.
M-6: Migrant Visa for Business Investment
M-10: Migrant Visa for Real Estate Investment
M-visas have an initial validity of 3 years, and are indefinitely renewable so long as the investment is maintained.
After five years on an M-visa, the applicant may convert to an R-visa, which is renewable every five years. R-visas are similar to PR. After five years on an R-visa (10 years total), the applicant is eligible for naturalization.
To qualify for citizenship, the applicant must demonstrate “full integration” into Colombian society, sit an interview with government officials (conducted in Spanish), and complete an examination on Colombian history, geography, and constitution.
Colombia permits dual citizenship.
